Googolplex
Meet Corey—Googolplex Student Intern!

Corey Pratt has just joined Googolplex as our college intern for 2011-1012. He replaces Kate Neuens, who has finished her university studies in Madison and has moved on to new adventurs in New Hampshire.

Our newest college intern, Corey says:

"Hello everybody! My name is Corey Pratt and I am a 20-year-old junior at the University of Wisconsin- Madison studying economics and entrepreneurial studies.

I grew up in Madison, Wis., so naturally I am a HUGE Badger and Packer fan! I love all sports but my favorite is definitely soccer. I’ve been playing since I was 4 and it has been a huge part of my life ever since.

If I am not playing sports you will find me listening to my iPod or computer as I love music of all kinds and genres. It’s never too late to start something new and this summer I will begin learning to play the piano!

I also am looking forward to joining the Googolplex team and working with the current youth editorial board as well as the incoming group. I believe one is never too young to begin learning about personal finances and Googolplex is a great way to do just that and have fun!
Promote the newest chapter in C-Note's "Wheels"
The editors of Googolplex are pleased to announce a new chapter in the life or our wheeled heroine, Marcy. Starting today, teenagers can follow Marcy as she:
  • Ventures into the world of professional modeling
  • Meets new friends
  • Makes important financial decisions
  • Is visited by two people from the past—one dear and one not
  • Learns that homelessness is not limited by social, economic, racial, educational, or any other boundaries
Market this high school comic strip "Wheels" any time of the year. The first two chapters, A Question of Identity and Predator, and the current chapter, Homeless, are online. Send a direct link to your young members, or beter yet, send them on a C-Note exploration journey as they follow these instructions to find "Wheels":
  • Go to any page in C-Note. You'll find a link to "Wheels" in the left navigation bar. It's automatically updated twice a month—you don't do anything.
  • Use the arrows at the top right of any strip to navigate through the three chapters.
  • Use the arrows and/or episode numbers at the bottom left of any strip to navigate through the episodes of each chapter.
  • Check out viewer comments in the Talk Back area directly below the comic strip, and post one yourself.
You have to register on the site and log in (it's easy) to post a comment, but anyone can read others' comments and follow Marcy's adventures forward and backward over time.

Don't reinvent your wheel! With your subscription you get several tools to help you market Googolplex. Click the photo or contact Rena Crispin, Googolplex's managing editor, at 800-356-9655 ext. 4258. She can help you pinpoint the best tools for your situation.
C-Note instant poll results–Looking at Colleges*
Most C-Note teenagers say that the majors offered are more important to them than other factors when looking at colleges and universities.

Help your high school members make "The 'major' Decision" by pointing them to the C-Note story of the same name by former Googolplex college intern, Kelsey Balcaitis.

Balcaitis, right, a college junior when she worked for Googolplex, is now the community education specialist at A+ Federal Credit Union in Austin, Texas.

Last month's Instant Poll question and its results:

Q: What is your top deciding factor when looking at colleges and universities?

1. Distance from home
2. Majors offered
3. Class size
4. Sororities and fraternities available
5. Average ACT/SAT scores of incoming freshman
23%
57%
9%
4%
7%

Instant poll questions capture your high school members’ attention. On which issues would you like to learn more about what they think? Use your imagination and send your poll questions with possible responses to Rena Crispin.
