Credit unions are perfectly suited for Pinterest, a new social bookmarking website.

Social networking sites like Pinterest are driving an ever-growing share of referral traffic. Your members and potential members are going to Pinterest. It makes sense for your credit union to be there!

Use Pinterest to promote contests, share relevant financial tips, and to gauge the interests of your target market. Don’t use it to advertise!

The key is to tap in to your members’ goals and consider how your credit union can play a vital role in helping them achieve them. Lots of pinners use Pinterest to find creative ideas for kids. Let your imagination fly. You can:
    • Create pinboards on topics such as help for teachers, money saving tips, help for do it yourself projects, paying for college.
    • Pin different fun projects, kids’ activities, or sound financial information to the boards. Offer advice and feedback through comments.
    • Do a quick Web search to find attention-grabbing images worth pinning, and link them back to your content.
    • Use your pins to direct members to specific areas of your website. Make sure to share content that will genuinely interest them. For instance, does your credit union maintain a blog or write articles for members?
