Googolplex teams up for youth week April 17-23
 
Your young members will get in the game for Youth Week—all month—with 12 special Googolplex articles, videos, and games. Visit the front pages each week throughout April to see:
 
5-Spot:
  • Article: Turn Clutter to Cash
    Rand, age 12, tells kids the steps involved in holding a garage sale: getting organized, gathering tools, advertising, acting on the day of the sale, and enjoying the payoff.
  • Lucia gets down with e-booksGame: U Decide
    As 5-Spot travels from “birth” at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to one of 12 Federal Reserve banks, kids get to decide where the $5 dollar bill heads next.
  • Game: Lemonade MegaStand
    A big favorite: Kids have 15 days to earn as much money as possible at their lemonade stand, learning there's more to lemonade than sugar, water, and lemons.
  • Article: E-Books or Not?
    Lucia, age 10, (right) helps kids sort out the details in deciding whether to buy an electronic book, go to the library, or buy books at a regular book store.

  • Article: Earth Day: Make a Difference 
    Dena, age 12, says that Earth Day (April 22) “starts in your heart.” She tells how kids helped create the day, and how they can make a difference.
  • Coletrane says, 'Join the credit union!'Game: Little Green Men
    Young teenagers love this quiz on lesser-known facts about money. These fun puzzlers, hosted by creatures from another planet, challenge adults too.
  • Video: Join the Club
    Coletrane, age 12, (right) tells his peers how it pays to be a member of a credit union.
  • Article: Rock With Babies
    Babysitting is a great first job. Middle school teenagers learn how to get rocking (the babies) and rolling (in the cash). Includes a video on marketing your services.
C-Note:
  • Game: Rebilled
    We removed old elements from each of the newly designed bills. High school students get to know the new kids on the block as they rebuild them.
  • Kate knows her spending habits.Article: How Much Do You Spend in a Year?
    Katie, age 16, (right) says many teenagers “spend their money within one week of getting their paychecks." She shows her peers how to avoid going into debt.
  • Game: Build a Buck
    In this test of skill, students start with a one-dollar bill and rearrange it as fast as possible to graduate to a five-dollar bill, continuing on to bigger bills.
  • Video: Small Ways to Save
    There are lots of ways to save. Jessica says, “You just have to look for them,” as she shows how she saves $79 with simple lifestyle changes.
Youth Week is April 17-23. It's not too late to sign up for the National Youth Savings Challenge! Participation in the free Saving Challenge is an opportunity to build a strong relationship with young members in your community—and their families—by reinforcing the benefits of credit union membership.
