Painting a Whole New Future--Without Oil?

And my way of life

I'm also changing my lifestyle:

This past Christmas, I did little things to conserve resources, like wrapping presents in newspaper. I'm starting to prepare for peak oil, so it won't hit me as hard.

You could say that my whole view of the world has changed. I've learned that everything isn't as it always appears.

I've been talking to my close friends and my mom, telling them all about what I've learned in researching this paper.

You might wonder what you can do differently. There are lots of things:

You can go on living every day without thinking about oil, but it involves you—our generation—and isn't going to go away. This issue is always going to be a part of me because it's part of my future.

And one day I will use my art to make political statements. The more I can say it visually, the better.

True or False: Benjamin Franklin was the only Founding Father to sign all five documents that pertain to American Independence. Click Ben's head for the answer.
TRUE: Franklin signed the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Amity and Commerce with France, the Treaty of Alliance with France, the Treaty of Peace with Great Britain and the Constitution of the United States of America.

"Everyone uses oil, but now there is cars that use different kinds of oil or no oil at all. and tose cars are a lot better for the enviroment and it would help if people bought those."

"this is an interesting story that explained a lot to me that I didn’t know before about oil and what else is going on between it, those who use it most and the economy. Great story, great information."

"There are finite oil reserves available to us. Yes, there will be a peak in oil production, and it will be soon, even if the US were to drill all of its oil (the US has three times the amount of oil that's ever been used underneath our soil; 3 trillion barrels). However, government-sponsored research, independent research, and even oil companies (like BP and ExxonMobil) are getting in on creating alternative energy sources for our future. Gas heaters and cars don't have to burn gas; they just have to burn something. The cars on the road right now can't burn anything else, but the technology is there to burn a number of other things--hydrogen, for example. There are also electric cars and compressed air cars in the works in every major car company in the world. Just because the world is running out of oil resources doesn't mean that life will end as we know it. There are so many other resources we can use! Hydrogen is especially promising if scientists can figure out a way to store it safely in cars. Secondly, we are reaching the oil peak. The peak is the half-way point. We have been using oil since the 1920's or so. This means that the oil that we have left on Earth will still last us another 90 or so years. Plenty enough time to develop alternative energy sources to their fullest potential with the rate of progress the world sees today! All in all, don't get too worked up. Alternative fuel sources are on the way, and there are already hydrogen fuel cell and electric cars being tested on the road and constantly being improved. Within the next 50 years, we will see alternative fuel cars all over the place. Continue to pursue what you truly want to be! Everything will be OK."
