Financial Duel in the Desert

The results are in

This year my team and I came in second place at the Fourth Annual Jr. Duel in the Desert Competition and earn $300. We split it between the five team members.

The benefits are in, too

We all have enjoyed this experience. It's helped us realize the importance of making good financial choices to establish a positive financial future.

Because this is my third year taking this class, I now have a CD (share certificate of deposit), checking and savings account, a high yield account, and this year I started my Roth IRA.

As a result of these classes, my teammates and I have been able to:

Construct a solid team
Build camaraderie with people at our high school that we didn't know before
Became close friends

Looking back, the most fun was while we were preparing for our presentation. The best part after it's over is realizing that anyone can become rich by making good financial choices.

It's an awesome experience and I recommend it to any teenager wanting to learn more about enhancing their life skills.
