Cavon's Spanglish binderbook

Cavon bought a photo album binder at a camera store. He uses its pages to hold his pictures.
Cavon keeps a journal and uses notes from the journal to help him write a paragraph about each picture. That way everyone who looks at his album will know where and when each picture was taken.
Your Notes, and Your Friends, Help You!
When you take pictures for use in your scrapbook, keep a running account of all the details:
- The date
- Where the picture was taken
- Who is in the picture
- Your brief comments.
If you have trouble remembering peoples' names, think how your friends will feel when they look at your scrapbook. Remember to include all that information when you make your captions!
CloseKeep the color in your pictures.
Keep the Color in Your Pictures
Have you ever looked at old family photos and noticed how they sometimes look faded and discolored? Today's photos might look the same way decades from now.
There are ways to preserve your pictures and other valuable papers.
- Seal them away from air and moisture.
- Keep them away from materials that contain acid
- Look for "acid free" tape, glue, and paper at stores that sell scrapbook supplies. They will keep your pictures looking new for a long time.
CloseSometimes Cavon fastens an envelope to the page, with its flap open. He puts items into it that can be removed so both sides are easy to look at. Just for fun, he writes his captions by mixing English and Spanish.
Mike's recycled wonderbook
After school is out for the summer, Mike recycles his old loose-leaf notebook and blank filler paper. This is the basis for his In Living Color scrapbook about his favorite movies.
Tasha discovered more than one idea for a scrapbook.
Big Moves & Crazy Kids Tasha created a scrapbook about on her move from Pennsylvania to Oregon. While she was gathering pictures and memories, she ran across some old family photos.
You should see the crazy things her sister and brother did when they were ages two and five! Hey, that's a good idea for a Crazy Kids scrapbook!
Then Tasha found some vacation photos. They made her want to make a scrapbook called My Family on Vacation. So she set her Crazy Kids book aside to work on that!
Tasha is now "cooking" three scrapbooks, each in a different style!
CloseMike divides his book into sections for each movie. He glues material about every movie he sees onto the pages of his scrapbook.
Movie ads from the newspaper announce each section. You'll find his ticket stubs, movie reviews, and pictures from magazines.
Mike's pages won't necessarily still be in good shape when he gets older, but his only goal is to make a fun book to enjoy now.
Here's how you can get started...!
