What is going on?

You're "Surrounded" if another token is played on either side of your own. Note you can be surrounded horizontally, vertically, or diagonally ... and more than one of your tokens can be surrounded at the same time! If a line of three of your tokens has a Master token on either side, he'll collect all three of yours.
