Long after the clay was no longer used, people still referred to such coin holders as pygg banks. Eventually, in the 1800s, the storage containers were made to look like actual pigs! TRUTH - The popular toy came equipped with a pipe for its first 35 years of production. The pipe was discontinued in 1987, and Mr. Potato Head became the official Spokes-Spud of the American Cancer Society.
