Before the days of DVD, VHS, and even TV, your parents and grandparents had to sit through some of the strangest educational films ever made. From ‘Mechanized Death’ to ‘Healthy Feet,’ they endured bizarre warnings and advice that today are hilarious.

In his book Mental Hygiene, author Ken Smith catalogs hundreds of bizarre educational films from pre-1970. Based on our descriptions (and a few movie posters we’ve imagined) tell us which of these 15 blasts from the past are real, and which are figments of our big screen imagination.
