Just about anyone can recognize a Boston accent or a southern drawl. But what about other less obvious clues? A normal word or phrase to you may be completely foreign to me. And if we both live in the good old United States of America, that's just plain weird.

The Dictionary of American Regional English is a multi-volume reference book that would say quite the opposite. Thousands of pages document hundreds of thousands of words and phrases exclusive to small and large regions of the country.

We've selected a handful of our favorite entries. There are no right or wrong answers to this quiz, but you will learn something -- about yourself. Your answers may just tell you a little bit more about who influences the way you talk.
