The term C-Note is another way of describing a US $100 bill, the largest denomination in circulation. In Roman numerals, "C" is equivalent to 100. Also, some believe the "C" stands for century, which is 100 years.

#1 - CELINE DION
The singer earned $55.5 million in 1998, making her the year's 12th highest paid performer. Poor Leo brought in only $37 million, ranking him at 34th. The two of them combined couldn't touch "Titanic" director James Cameron, who sunk $115 million into his pocket that same year.
#2 - MICHAEL JORDAN
Hey, Tiger isn't
that
nice. Michael Jordan earned more money in endorsements alone than Tiger Woods earned for the whole shooting match. In 1997, Jordan brought in $78.3 million ($47 million of it was endorsement money) while Tiger collected a grand total of $26.1 million.
#3 - DENNIS RODMAN
A bad boy image is typically not very lucrative, but still Mr. Rodman managed to earn $6 million as a product spokesman in 1997. That same year, Mike Tyson made absolutely nothing endorsing products. Don't feel too bad for Mike. He pulled in $27 million for boxing, and overall earned twice as much as Rodman that year.
#4 - LARRY DAVID
Larry David creamed Oprah Winfrey in 1998, earning $200 million simply for selling 'Seinfeld' into syndication. He was the second highest paid entertainer of the year, losing out only to, you guessed it, Jerry Seinfeld. Jerry brought in $225 million. And where was Oprah? Ms. Winfrey was no slouch either, and earned a spot as the fourth highest paid entertainer with a cool $125 million.
#5 - ANDREW GROVE
Mr. Grove earned an impressive $52.6 million in 1997. Bill Gates brought home a paycheck of just over $2 million. Did Andrew have bragging rights? Nah. Bill's paycheck was smaller, but his Microsoft stock holdings earned him $22 billion that same year. Yes, Andrew, that says
billion.
#6 - BOXING
Though both sports are represented seven times on the top 40 list, 1997 boxing salaries thumped America's pastime, $165 million to $77 million.
#7 - JIM CARREY
Jim Carrey topped Robin Williams for 1997, but it was a close race. Carrey earned $53 million, Williams earned $50 million.
#8 - DAVID COPPERFIELD
Nothing up his sleeve, except an $85 million paycheck. Don't feel bad for Siegfried and Roy. The boys from Vegas earned a very respectable $58 million, and got one free trip to the salad bar at Caeser's Palace.
#9 - KISS
Try as they might, Girl Power simply couldn't bring in more money than the boys from KISS. It was certainly close - KISS earned $48 million in 1997, The Spice Girls earned $47 million.
#10 - YOU DID
Babe Ruth didn't even make half of what you did in his first year as a professional baseball player. His total salary was only $600. Some of today's top baseball players make about ten times Babe Ruth's annual salary... per inning.
