This week we did an experiment. Normally I am limited to 4 hours of playing on the computer a day, but on Friday I was granted unlimited computer play time. The next day I was allowed no computer use, or DS, or cell phone, or Wii, or even to talk about electronics.
By the end of the day on Friday (the day of unlimited computer), my eyes hurt and I was exhausted. I had been playing an online game all day.
One thing that happened that can serve as a warning. I was playing when I got a private message from someone who wanted me to be a player moderator. I was directed to a site that looked like the official site. One section of the application required my username and password. I immediately went to the official forums and posted a thread explaining what had happened and asking whether it was a scam. In under a minute I had three responses saying that it was a scam.
The next day was difficult. I found ways to entertain myself (most of my friends were out of town or busy). I was surprised by how hard it was not to watch TV or do something like that. Still, the time flew by and the day seemed shorter than the day before. I passed the day by reading, playing pingpong and packing for the beach.
I learned that maybe I should spend less time on the computer. I had forgotten how much fun it is to read a book and hang out with my brother.
